Bylaw Enforcement Officer

The Town of Golden needs to renew its Bylaw Enforcement Officer position.
 
This position is largely focused on the enforcement of the bylaws of the Town of Golden, including regular interaction with the public, liaising with the RCMP detachment, and communicating with relevant community agencies.
 
Outstanding tact on the job is critical, taking initiative where appropriate on apparent and known infractions before they trigger public complaints or procedural action, while also ensuring that complaints and compliance with municipal bylaws are dealt with in a firm and fair manner. Golden has been approved to implement the Bylaw Notice Enforcement system; this position will be integral in customizing and initiating it for our municipality.
 
The position also researches and recommends changes to regulatory frameworks, bylaws, and policies.  Good communication skills and demeanour are imperative in order to successfully work with the public and co-workers in a co-operative, professional manner, as a front line representative of the Town.
 
Candidates must be highly organized, hold a valid and current Driver's Licence and be able to communicate courteously, tactfully, impartially, and firmly, both orally and in writing.  Attitude and temperament are critical character traits for this position.
 
We would prefer a candidate already having a Level 1 Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate or Bylaw Enforcement Officer 2 Certificate, equivalent certification through RCMP or Municipal Police Training, or 5 years’ experience as a municipal bylaw enforcement officer.

Corporate Expenses (Payroll) Clerk


The Town of Golden has an immediate opportunity for an enthusiastic accounting clerk to join our Finance Department as a Corporate Expense Clerk.

The incumbent will be responsible for the detailed and timely entry of biweekly payroll as well as completing the day to day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure that our records are maintained accurately and effectively.

We’re a small community, so variety is one of the keys to our workplace. While payroll and payables have fast paced deadline driven schedules, this non-supervisory role will also be able to learn and grow by assisting with other accounting and office duties as required.

 
The successful candidate will have a minimum of:

• A diploma in accounting

• Recent experience in a position related role

• Organization and prioritization skills, including the ability to complete tasks accurately and quickly
 

Special consideration will be given to applicants having payroll certification (PCP).

This position is within the CUPE Local 2309 bargaining unit and comes with a very competitive wage and benefits package.

Aquatic Fitness Instructor

The Town of Golden has an immediate opportunity for an Aquatic Fitness Instructor. Reposrting directly to the Recreation Services Coordinator, the position is responsible for the safe, effective instruction of Aqua Fitness at a local, Golden, BC hotel pool as well as public relations and program registration.

Minimal Qualifications

Education and Experience

BCRPA Aquatic Fitness Instructor or CALA Aquafit Instructor (certified or "in training")

•National Lifeguard Service accreditation.

• CPR "C" accreditation.
