Effective at noon Pacific time on Friday, July 7, 2017, campfires will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre, including Golden and Area A, to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

This campfire ban will remain in place until the public is otherwise notified.

Prohibitions on larger Category 2 and Category 3 open fires are already in effect throughout the Southeast Fire Centre.

These prohibitions do not apply to cooking stoves or portable campfire apparatuses with a CSA or ULC rating that use gas, propane or briquettes.
