Nestled between the Selkirk, Purcell and Rocky Mountains, and home to the confluence of the Columbia and Kicking Horse River, Golden is situated in the heart of six national parks. It is a beautiful place to visit, with breathtaking views and plenty for the outdoor enthusiast to do.

Everything from bird watching in the wetlands, white water rafting on the Kicking Horse River, skiing and snowboarding on Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, hiking and paragliding on Mount 7, or mountain biking the famous Moonraker Trails, there is a host of activities offered in Golden and the surrounding area.

For the soft adventurer and cultural explorer, we offer a delightful museum, art gallery, and refurbished Civic Centre and performing arts venue, hosting a winter series of fabulous performances. During the summer months, stroll our in-town perimeter trail system, hop the gondola at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort to the highest restaurant in Canada, check out our award winning golf course, or experience of only 5 gateway visitor centre’s in the province. If your timing is right, you can visit the weekly bazaar by our local Farmers Market and experience one of our outdoor summer music concerts held in Spirit Square.

Radium and Fairmont Hot Springs are an hour, or two, South of Golden on Highway 95. Both places offer a relaxing place to enjoy the naturally warm and nourishing waters provided by the mountain springs.

Getting Here

Located on Highway 1, the Trans-Canada Highway, just three hours West of Calgary, AB, Golden is one of the first places you will travel through heading towards Vancouver. Highway 1 connects Golden to Calgary where you can fly in to the Calgary International Airport. The Canadian Rockies International Airport is located three hours South of Golden by way of Highway 95.
Travelling South of Golden will bring you to two Internationally Acclaimed Hot Springs resorts and the American Border.
