Thanks to grants from the Canada 150 Infrastructure Program and Columbia Basin Trust, the pool received a major facelift over the winter with some new additions to make the facility more accessible and fun.

“We are very excited about our new accessible change room and pool lift which will remove the barriers that people have experienced at the pool in the past,” says Manager of Recreation Services Jordan Petrovics. “Improvements have also been made to develop a more welcoming reception area for users of the pool.”

There will also be some program and user experience enhancements around the facility.

“We are adding some new tents and awnings that will provide that much-needed shady spot on the deck during the hot days of summer,” says Petrovics. “And, our Wibit inflatable play structure will introduce a new world of fun at our Friday night public swims!”

Recreation Program Coordinator Kim Bryan says, “Aquafit will be that much more fun with a passionate crew of instructors and a new PA system that will make it easy to hear the instructions on the moves. If you are interested in trying this excellent and fun exercise, we are offering a free Aquafit day on Monday, June 19th from 19 from 8:30 to 9:15 p.m.”

Buy your summer season’s pass and enjoy all of the action at the Pool this year! The pool front desk will be open from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Tuesday May 16 to Friday, May 19.  Staff will be on hand to help with swimming lesson registration, season pass sales and general information about the upcoming season.

Then, on May long weekend, get back in the pool, have some fun and achieve your fitness goals. There are Public Swims, Aquafit, Red Cross Lessons, Master’s Programs and private swim lessons for every age and ability. Membership helps to support this great community facility. Opening day is set for Saturday, May 20th.

“In recent years the recreation team has put a big focus on gathering user feedback and addressing the community’s desires at the pool,” says Petrovics. “The granting we received allowed us to improve the facility and make the pool a better place to recreate. We are confident these enhancements will help pave the way for greater accessibility and new programing that appeals to all ages and demographics in Golden. We want to encourage everyone to enjoy this great asset in our town.”
