Areas south of Golden have been subject to rapidly changing conditions throughout this afternoon and evening. Two evacuation orders are currently in place and evacuation alerts are in effect for properties south of Champagne Rd. To view all information updates, visit www.golden.ca.news
We have been able to confirm that the wildfire did cross the river at one point near Canadian Timber Frames, destroying several structures immediately south of the plant. The fire has advanced north on the west side of the valley, however, with some weather condition changes, including a north wind and expected precipitation, it is hoped this may help reduce fire activity.
The wildfire will continue to be monitored overnight. Unless the situation changes rapidly, we will not be posting regular updates overnight. The next update will come in the morning (July 25, 2024).
