Licence and keep an identification tag on your dog. This is your dog’s ticket back home!
The Town’s Animal Control Bylaw requires that the owner of a dog must obtain an annual licence on or before the first business day of January for each dog owned over the age of 4 months.
You can purchase or renew a dog licence at Town Hall, located at 810 9th Ave. South or renew your dog licence online using your three-digit dog license number. For more information, please contact us at 250-344-2271 or email us.
Dog licence fees help to pay for the costs of tags, feeding and boarding dogs, facility costs, hydro, propane, repairs, maintenance, insurance, etc. and staff costs for catching and caring for the dogs.
Responsible dog ownership
The Town of Golden works with residents to make sure cats, dogs, their owners and neighbours are safe and can enjoy Golden and all it has to offer.
Unless you are in a designated off-leash area, including parks with seasonal restrictions, dogs must be on leash in the community at all times.
- There are five designated off-leash areas and two off-leash trail areas for your dog to exercise and play in the community.
- In off-leash areas, owners are expected to use effective hand/voice control, and respect other dogs and owners. If your dog doesn’t have recall, it shouldn’t be off leash.
