Update: Due to uncertainty in the position of weather patterns and anticipated rainfall, the River Forecast Centre is upgrading to a Flood Watch for the Upper Columbia including the Kicking Horse River and tributaries around Golden. View the advisory here: https://bit.ly/3xrtVXB
The Golden and Area Emergency Program Coordinator is monitoring the situation and we will provide updates as necessary and when available.
With the potential for increased river flow, we would like to remind residents to use extra caution in and around the river during this time:
- Exercise caution around riverbanks as fast-moving water can cause erosion and destabilization of riverbanks.
 - Warn children about the dangers of fast-moving water, especially if you live near the river.
 - Keep pets away from fast-moving water.

The River Forecast Centre continues to monitor the conditions and will provide updates as conditions warrant.
