Golden is a mountain community, situated between two mountain ranges, the Columbia Mountains (sub ranges: Selkirk and Purcell) and the Rocky Mountains, and at the junction of the Columbia River and Kicking Horse River. Expansive wetlands, rivers and fruit-bearing trees and shrubs, provide seasonal food for wildlife in our area.
For more than 15 years, the Town of Golden has supported the WildSafeBC Community Program in the Golden area.
Working with the community, the goal of the Program is to reduce conflicts and help keep wildlife wild and the community safe. The Program uses a multi-faceted approach to increase community knowledge with regards to local wildlife and human-wildlife conflict issues. Learn more about the WildSafeBC Community Program or follow the WildSafeBC Golden Coordinator on Facebook.
