| Candidate Name: Stuart Angus Contact Information: Email Phone: 250-439-9596 | Candidate Statement: My name is Stuart Angus, I have called Golden home for the past 19 years. My family moved here in 2007, and over the years our roots in this community have grown strong. Today, three generations of my family live in Golden, giving me a deep appreciation for the people, businesses, and opportunities that make this town a special place to live.
As the owner/operator of The Golden Cinema, I have had the privilege of meeting and working with residents, visitors, local organizations, and businesses from all parts of our community. Running a local business has given me valuable experience in problem-solving, customer service, budgeting, and understanding the challenges and opportunities that come with living and working in a small town.
Golden has given my family a wonderful place to live, work, and build lasting connections. I am seeking a position on Town Council to give back to the community that has given us so much. I care deeply about Golden’s future and want to contribute in a thoughtful, practical, and collaborative way.
I believe strong communities are built through listening, collaboration and respectful discussion. I want to work together to find solutions that benefit residents, businesses, families, and future generations. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the people of Golden and help ensure our community grows steadily, in an affordable manner. Candidate Information: Nomination Package |

| Candidate Statement: I’m 46. Golden is the only hometown I’ve ever had. I’m raising two kids here with my wife Jayne. I would love for them to have the opportunity to work in this valley, find a place to live, and keep the small-town life I grew up with. That’s getting harder. Housing is tight, peak season squeezes the town, and infrastructure is aging. For 15 years I’ve been with Emcon and worked maintaining bridges in this valley. You learn what deferred maintenance costs. Council is the same: pipes, wells, roads, and housing first. I want to help direct focus on affordability and quality of life for all residents of Golden. I believe in supporting our tourism industry while keeping our tax payers needs forefront. Fiscal responsibility and accountability regarding our tax dollars is of utmost importance to me, I would remain diligent in regards to scrutinizing our budget and funding allocation. I believe we should look at all grants and funding available to add real value for our town. With economic turmoil at the federal/ provincial level we need to support our local businesses and grow as a community. I love this town with all my heart, it’s part of who I am. It would be my honour to serve on council and help keep our town Golden. Candidate Information: Nomination Package |

| Candidate Name: David Ratzlaff Contact Information: Email Phone: 250-272-1500 Facebook page | Candidate Statement: Finding a Way to Yes — Building Golden’s Future Together I am running for Golden Town Council because I believe our community is at an important turning point. Golden is growing, and more people are recognizing what makes this town such a special place to live, work, raise a family, and build a business. But with that growth comes responsibility. We need to address the infrastructure, housing, development, and long-term planning challenges that have been left unresolved for too long. As a General Contractor and business owner, I have spent my career solving problems. In construction, when a challenge comes up, you do not simply say no — you find a way forward. That is the approach I want to bring to Council.
Most importantly, I want Golden to be a community where our young people can see a future for themselves — where they can return after their education, find meaningful work, start businesses, afford homes, raise families, and contribute their skills to the community they grew up in. Golden is going to change. Our responsibility is to guide that change wisely while protecting what makes this community special. Build the infrastructure. Create opportunity. Support local business. Plan for responsiblegrowth. Create a future for the next generation. And find a way to YES. That is why I am running for Golden Town Council. Candidate Information: Nomination Package |
