Construction season will be here before we know it! Crews will start work on some major construction projects around the community as soon as the weather permits. Here are some of the upcoming projects we have planned for 2023:
- Downtown Plaza Revitalization: The Town received $468,750 in grant funding through the Tourism Dependent Communities Initiative toward the Downtown Plaza Revitalization project and invited public comment on a new design in 2020. Construction is expected to start in early March. Learn more about the project at golden.ca/downtownplaza
- Downtown Street Renewal – 6th Street North: Work will continue to renew streets the downtown core with 6th St. N. between Ford and the Downtown Auto Wash. This work will include upgrades and improvements for roads and deep utilities, with new surfaces and landscaping.
- Trans-Canada Highway Phase 3 Boulevard Improvements: The Boulevard Improvement project includes the installation of irrigation systems, strategically designed accent lighting and decorative large quarry rocks along the frontage areas of the Trans-Canada Highway. It will also include topsoil replacements, extensive plantings of trees and shrubs. Some tree replanting will occur in various locations along the west frontage road boulevard with the majority of improvement work taking place along the east frontage road boulevard. This project is funded through the Resort Municipality Initiative.
- Station Avenue Sewer Main Replacement: Work will take place adjacent to Station Avenue to replace and upsize a section of the sewer main.
Please note that there may be traffic impacts as part of construction. As we prepare for construction season remember to please adhere to all signage and help crews get their jobs done safely and effectively.
