Skip the traffic and construction and give your vehicle a break! The Town of Golden, Golden Cycling Club and Kicking Horse Country Chamber of Commerce challenge you to bike or roll (skateboard, scooter, rollerblade) as much as possible, to work, school or just for fun, during GoByBike Week, May 31 to June 6.
“Golden is surrounded by incredible trails and scenic routes, making it easy and enjoyable to get around on two wheels,” said Mayor Ron Oszust. “Biking is a fun and healthy way to stay active, avoid traffic, save money, and stay connected to your community. For most of us, it’s just a short ride, scoot, or walk to get where we need to go. I encourage everyone to embrace active transportation and take the scenic route this summer.”
Golden has over 40 kilometres of trails, pathways and sidewalks to help you get around Golden. The Town provides funding to the Golden Cycling Club through the Resort Municipality Initiative for trail renewals and restorations in Golden and Area A, supporting trail networks for all users, whether you’re biking, walking or running.
“The Golden Cycling Club is proud to support the amazing trail network in Golden and Area A, and GoByBike Week is a great way to celebrate our thriving bike culture,” said Kelly Cytko, Executive Director of the Golden Cycling Club. “June is Bike Month, so let’s kick it off strong by pedaling together during GoByBike Week, and keep the momentum going all month long! Join us for exciting Cycling Club events like Full Gas Sundays (June 1), the Furious Five Mini Enduro (on June 4), and Shach Therapy (June 21). There’s something for every rider—come ride with us!”

“We know that traffic and parking can get tight in the downtown core during peak seasons, so why not walk, roll, or ride instead?” said Melanie Myer of the Kicking Horse Country Chamber of Commerce. “GoByBike Week is the perfect time for local businesses to get involved. Encourage your staff, customers, and clients to join in. It’s a simple shift in your daily routine that can save money, reduce emissions, and boost your health. There’s everything to gain and nothing to lose!”
