The 2026 municipal election is just around the corner. On October 17, residents of Golden will vote to elect one mayor and six councillors to Town Council, and three school trustees for School District No. 6.
Individuals seeking to run for Town Council in the 2026 election can now pick up nomination packages at Town Hall (810 9th Ave S), Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or online at golden.ca/2026election.
“Serving your community can be a very rewarding experience,” said Dawn Attorp, Golden’s Chief Election Officer. “Town Council makes important decisions that directly affect the daily lives of residents, families and businesses in Golden. It’s important for prospective candidates to understand what to expect before, during and after an election, and be well informed of the process and requirements.”
Nominations will be received by the Town of Golden for the offices of:
- Mayor - one (1) to be elected
- Councillor - six (6) to be elected
Nomination papers must be completed and submitted to the Chief Election Officer, or designate, between Tuesday, September 1 and Friday, September 11. Nomination packages can be submitted before 4 p.m. on Sept. 11 by:

Eligible candidates must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years of age on election day, have lived in British Columbia for at least six months before the nomination date (before March 10, 2026) and not be disqualified from being nominated, elected or holding office.
