It is recommended that customers in the area run their cold water taps as there could be air in the system as a result of the earlier outage. Water users may also experience taste and odour associated with chlorine disinfection.
UPDATE at 4 p.m., August 31, 2026: Water service is expected to be restored to the North Bench area within four to six hours.
This afternoon, contractors working in the North Bench area of Golden accidentally damaged a watermain, causing a loss of water service for the entire area in the image below (Goldenview Road, Lafontaine Road, Gareb Road, Pine Drive, Deere Ridge Road, Granite Drive, Quartz Crescent, and Golden Donald Upper Road are all affected).
Interior Health has issued a boil water notice for the area impacted by the service disruption.
Irrigation in the area is prohibited until the water system can be fully restored.
An update will be provided as soon as we have information on a time for repair and restoration of services.
