The status of both the Sea Lion Mountain (N41412) and the Moose Creek (N41514) wildfires is now “Being Held.”

Both received significant rainfall over the past seven days, resulting in a notable decrease in fire activity.

Category 1 campfires are now permitted throughout the Southeast Fire Centre, which includes Golden & Area A. Anyone choosing to light a Category 1 campfire must do so responsibly:
- Do not burn in windy conditions
- Establish and maintain a fuel break
- Do not leave the fire unattended
- Ensure the fire is fully extinguished before leaving the area
- Carry out fire control immediately and/or report the fire if it spreads beyond the established fuel break
Given the reduced wildfire risk, the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will be deactivated today. Wildfire monitoring through the EOC is no longer required, and the current wildfire situation in Golden and Area A is not considered an imminent threat to public safety.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to continue exercising caution outdoors and to stay informed through the Town of Golden's official channels if conditions change.
