BC Hydro has informed the Town of Golden that there will be a planned power outage on Sunday, October 4, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. This work will impact Golden and surrounding areas, including Field, Parson, and nearby rural communities.
BC Hydro crews will be performing a transmission system upgrade on the powerline that serves Golden, Field, Parson and surrounding rural communities, which requires a 14-hour planned outage to complete the work safely. This important work will help improve the reliability and delivery of electricity across the region.
BC Hydro is responsible for managing planned and unplanned power outages and will provide progress updates as necessary. As a reminder, residents should make sure they have access to reliable sources of information during extended outages, especially if cellular and internet service may be affected. Local radio stations, such as Summit Radio, may provide local updates and emergency information if required. Residents are encouraged to keep a battery-powered or hand-crank radio available as part of their household emergency kit.
