Biosolid Management starting October 3

What’s that smell? Water that goes down any drain in your home or business, such as dishwashers, washing machines, sinks, showers, and toilets, enters the Town’s sewage collection system and ends up at the sewage treatment plant.

Starting October 3, contractors will be hauling biosolids from the sewage treatment plant as part of the Town’s Biosolid Management Plan.

Biosolids are the nutrient-rich organic materials resulting from the sewage treatment process. The Town’s biosolids will be transported by truck for beneficial reuse on farmland south of Golden for hayfield production.

Trucks will be hauling biosolids from the Town’s sewage treatment plant, located near the airport, for an estimated six weeks. Residents along the truck route (Fisher Road, 5th Avenue South, 9th Street South and 10th Avenue S/Highway 95, see map below) may experience temporary odours during this time.
