Golden is one of 14 designated Resort Municipalities in British Columbia. As a resort municipality, Golden receives tourism funding through the Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) program. The Resort Development Strategy (RDS) is a required plan that outlines how approximately $2.5 million in RMI funding will be invested in local tourism projects, events and experiences over the next three years.

As part of the RDS process, the Town works with the Resort Development Strategy Advisory Committee (RAC) to develop the draft and collects input from residents on the proposed RDS.The draft strategy for 2025-2027 is now available. View the plan and provide your feedback.

The RMI program is intended to support small, tourism-based municipalities to build and diversify their tourism infrastructure, deliver exceptional visitor experiences and incorporate sustainable tourism practices and products.
