At noon, BC Wildfire Service updated the status of the Dogtooth wildfire from out of control to being held. When a wildfire is considered as being held, it means that it is projected, based on fuel and weather conditions and resource availability, to remain within the current perimeter, control line or boundary.
An Incident Management Team remains in place for the South Rockies Complex to support the Dogtooth wildfire and other wildfires in the region. There are currently 7 helicopters assigned to the complex, with 111 firefighters, 12 field staff, and 7 pieces of heavy equipment assigned to the Dogtooth wildfire incident.
Along the southwestern edge of the fire, around Hobo and Billy Goat saddles, ground crews are working to secure the fire within this area. They are working to consolidate and strengthen containment lines. On the northern edge of the fire, crews continue to consolidate containment lines.
The level of rain may alter operational plans. For more information on BC Wildfire Operations visit: https://wildfiresituation.nrs.gov.bc.ca/incidents?fireYear=2024&incidentNumber=N21427&source=map
