Emergency Information Update: July 25, 2024 at 9 a.m.

The last 24 hours have been a difficult time for residents of Golden and Electoral Area A.

The fire remains active. However, the weather is working in our favour. A shift in weather conditions including rain and a north wind are expected to help reduce fire activity. The leading edge of the fire currently lies on the west side of the valley approximately across from Mitchell Rd. on the east side and the Rauch Rd. area on the west side. The fire on the east side of the river, near Rauch Rd. is being contained.

The Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) in Golden remains activated and incident responders continue to work on the fire and in the surrounding areas to monitor and investigate potential hot spots and activity.

Our focus continues to be on ensuring the safety of residents south of Golden and saving as many structures as possible. Unfortunately, we can’t report on the extent of damage to specific locations or neighbourhoods at this time.

Highway 95 remains closed from Golden to Radium but is likely to reopen pending a re-evaluation of the area.

Further updates will be provided as they become available. Remember that wildfire situations can evolve quickly, be prepared and stay tuned to official news sources.
