As BC Wildfire enters a phase of sustained action, there will be fewer updates to report on. We expect to continue providing one daily update unless the situation changes, and further updates are needed.
BC Wildfire has assigned an Incident Management Team (IMT) to the South Rockies Complex. The South Rockies Complex includes the Dogtooth (N21427) wildfire south of Golden, as well as the Ravenshead (N21610) wildfire located 20km east of Invermere, and the Mount Morro (N21014) wildfire in Top of the World Provincial Park.
In addition to the IMT, there are 58 firefighters and seven field staff and structure protection personnel assigned to this incident. Approximately 20 pieces of heavy equipment are responding to this fire and seven helicopters are assigned to the South Rockies Complex.
BC Wildfire reports that crews continue to focus on priority areas in the interface going direct attack on the fires edge, extinguishing hotspots and reinforcing the guard. Heavy equipment continues to establish contingency guards in advance of the fire on the northwest and southeast flanks of the fire, working from the Columbia River to the west making their way upslope. Structure protection personnel continue to mop up and extinguish hotspots on the east side of the Columbia River. Personnel will continue to set up structure protection equipment ahead of the southeast flank of the fire and start proactively assessing and triaging community areas ahead of the fire.
Yesterday, in the interest of public and responder safety, BC Wildfire expanded the area restriction for the Dogtooth wildfire area to include the area from Parson River Crossing FSR to the mouth of Canyon Creek near Nicholson.
