BC Wildfire reports that today is expected to see increasing cloud cover with a high temperature of 20 and a minimum relative humidity of 40-45. Winds are forecasted to increase over the area with 10-20 km/h and gusting up to 35. Moderate south-southwesterly winds will be present on the fires in the south, Ravenshead wildfire (N21610) and Mount Morro wildfire (N21014), and mostly north-northwesterly winds for the Dogtooth FSR wildfire (N21427).

Crews continue to focus on priority areas in the interface going direct attack on the fires edge, extinguishing hotspots and reinforcing guard.

BC Wildfire is planning two small-scale ignitions on the northern edge and southeast corner between the Columbia River and the fire perimeter. The purpose of these ignitions is to remove unburnt fuel between the free burning fire’s edge and established control lines. This will allow crews to more efficiently contain the fire perimeter in the valley bottom. Please be aware that the planned ignitions will be visible from Highway 95 as well as the Nicholson and Parson areas.

Heavy equipment completed the contingency line on the northwest flank yesterday and anticipate completing the southeast contingency line today. Options for guard construction closer to the fire’s edge will be assessed today and equipment will also continue to construct guard on the southwest corner where the fire is currently most active. Structure protection personnel have completed setting up structure protection equipment in the Thomas Road area. They will conduct tactical patrols along Thomas Rd. and Malone Rd. as required. Yesterday BC Wildfire completed a proactive assessment and triage of community areas ahead of the fire.

BC Wildfire has classified fire behaviour across the fire as largely rank 2, with some pockets of rank 3. Learn more about wildfire rank here: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/wildfire-response/about-wildfire/wildfire-rank

The Evacuation Order in the Parson area remains in place and the Evacuation Alert in the area south of Champagne Rd. remains in place. View all information and alerts a www.golden.ca/news
