
BC Wildfire reports that no significant growth has occurred on the fires within the South Rockies Complex, including the Dogtooth wildfire, over the last couple of days.
In addition to the Incident Management Team in place for the South Rockies Complex, there are now 12 helicopters assigned to the complex, with almost 100 firefighters, 12 field staff, over 20 pieces of heavy equipment, and 22 structure protection personnel currently assigned to the Dogtooth wildfire incident.
Looking ahead to the weekend, warmer and drier temperatures are expected. These conditions are expected to increase fire activity. Smoke and increased fire activity may be visible from Highway 95 and surrounding communities.
BC Wildfire crews continue to focus on priority areas in the interface going direct attack on the fires edge, extinguishing hotspots, and reinforcing and extending contingency lines. Structure protection equipment has been set up in the Thomas Road area and proactive assessment and triage of community areas ahead of the fire. They will conduct tactical patrols along Thomas Road and Malone as required. Crews are preparing to reposition to the 12-mile forest service road to start working the north end of the fire. The Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) in Golden remains activated.
