Flood Watch for the Upper Columbia

Yesterday, the River Forecast Centre issued a Flood Watch for the Upper Columbia and tributaries. In the Upper Columbia, the heaviest rainfall forecasted for Friday and Saturday is expected to lead to high flows later Friday, through into Sunday. View the advisory here.

The Golden and Area Emergency Program Coordinator is monitoring the situation, and we will provide updates if necessary and when available.⁣⁣

With the potential for increased river flow, we would like to remind residents to use extra caution in and around the rivers during this time:⁣

  • Exercise caution around riverbanks as fast-moving water can cause erosion and destabilization of riverbanks.⁣
  • Warn children about the dangers of fast-moving water, especially if you live near the river.⁣
  • Keep pets away from fast-moving water.⁣

The River Forecast Centre continues to monitor the conditions and will provide updates as conditions warrant.⁣⁣
