Get ready to ride, GoByBikeWeek is May 30-June 5

Skip the traffic and construction and give your vehicle a break! The Town of Golden, Golden Cycling Club and Golden Chamber of Commerce challenge you to bike or roll (skateboard, scooter, rollerblade) as much as possible, to work, school or just for fun, during GoByBike Week, May 30 to June 5.

“Golden’s incredible trail network makes it easy to choose active transportation for everyday trips,” said Mayor Ron Oszust. “GoByBike Week is a great reminder that getting around without a vehicle can be fun, convenient, and good for your health. I encourage everyone to take advantage of our scenic routes and give biking or rolling a try this summer.

Golden has over 40 kilometres of trails, pathways and sidewalks to help you get around Golden. The Town provides funding to the Golden Cycling Club through the Resort Municipality Initiative for trail renewals and restorations in Golden and Area A, supporting trail networks for all users, whether you’re biking, walking or running.

“GoByBike Week is a fantastic way to celebrate the amazing cycling culture we have in Golden and Area A,” said Kelly Cytko, Executive Director of the Golden Cycling Club. “With June as Bike Month, it’s the perfect time to build momentum and invite more people to experience our trails and community events. Join us for Cycling Club events like group rides every Monday, the weekly Women’s Wednesday Wobble Ride, and Schach Therapy on June 13. There’s something for every rider—come ride with us!”

“GoByBike Week offers a great opportunity for local businesses and residents alike to get involved and rethink how we move around town, especially during our busier seasons” said Melanie Myers of the Golden Chamber of Commerce. “It’s also a chance for businesses to consider how they can better support cyclists year-round through initiatives like the BC Bike-Friendly Business Directory. We encourage local businesses to take part in GoByBike Week and to register as Bike-Friendly Businesses to showcase their amenities.”

Local businesses across are encouraged to register for the BC Bike-Friendly Business Directory, a free and accessible platform that helps showcase amenities for cyclists while attracting new customers and supporting active transportation: gobybikebc.ca/bc-bike-friendly-business-directory/
