September 30, is also Orange Shirt Day, a day to wear orange in an effort to raise awareness of the tragic legacy of residential schools and to honour the thousands of Survivors. Golden sits on the traditional unceded territory of the Ktunaxa and Secwépemc people, and is the chosen home of the Métis Nation Columbia River Society. The Town of Golden recognizes and acknowledges the history and ongoing legacy of residential schools and honours the Survivors, their families and communities. The Métis Nation Columbia River Society is hosting a number of events in the community tomorrow (check out the poster below), we have encouraged our staff, and encourage the public to attend one of these events.
