Reminder: No time change this weekend in Golden
While many Canadians will be setting their clocks back one hour this weekend, residents of Golden and Area A should NOT adjust their clocks. Keep your clocks exactly where they are!
Earlier this fall, Town Council voted to end semi-annual clock changes and remain permanently on Mountain Daylight Time (UTC-6). As a result, Golden's time will stay the same year-round and continue to align with communities throughout the East Kootenays.
What you need to know this weekend:
- Don't change your clocks before bed on Saturday night or when you wake up on Sunday morning.
- Your phones, computers, smartwatches, vehicles, and other digital devices may automatically attempt to adjust. Check your device settings and make sure the time remains correct. Depending on the system, this time zone may be displayed as Mountain Daylight Time (UTC-6) or Mountain Time (Alberta, UTC-6).
- Be aware that appointments, virtual meetings, travel plans, TV schedules, and services outside the region may operate on a different time than Golden.
What does this mean going forward? Golden will remain on Mountain Daylight Time (UTC-6) throughout the year, eliminating the need to spring forward or fall back each year.
