Starting August 22, construction will begin on repairs to an embankment erosion on Hospital Creek and additional works to raise, reshape and armour earthen dike sections along the Kicking Horse River.
Work will start in the Hospital Creek area within the Golden Mobile Home Park (see map below) for a couple of weeks before moving to the area along the Kicking Horse River and Rotary Trail behind the Mad Trapper Liquor Store (see map below) and along Fisher Road near Riverglen (see map below). Please note that there may be impacts to trail use during construction, please use caution and watch for signage.
Work on the Kicking Horse River dike adjacent to the Mad Trapper Liquor Store (see map below) may start as soon as this Saturday, Sept. 10.
Please note that the pathway will be closed daily until 5 p.m. for construction. The pathway is expected to re-open daily at 5 p.m. for pedestrians and cyclists. Work on this section of the dike is expected to be completed by the end of September.
Work is expected to be complete by the end of October.
The $1.47 million project is 100 per cent grant funded. Golden is one of 11 communities across B.C. to receive funding through Emergency Management BC under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP): COVID-19 Resilience Adaptation, Resilience and Disaster Mitigation stream to reduce and mitigate the risk of flooding.
