Notice of Zoning Bylaw Amendment: Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1491, 2024 – Golden CED

Golden Community Economic Development Society (Golden CED) has applied for a rezoning and development variance permit of 525-527 9th Ave N to allow for a four storey building with commercial on the ground floor and 27 dwelling units.

The purpose of the Town of Golden Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1491, 2024 – Golden CED is to rezone the subject property from Historic Downtown Commercial - C1 to Mixed Use Commercial - C2.  The bylaw will be considered for 1st, 2nd and 3rd reading on June 18, 2024 at 1:15 PM at Town Hall (Council Chambers) 810 9th Ave S Golden BC. 

Note, variances are also being sought for parking (from 32 required stalls to 16), height (up to 16.8 m), the corner visibility triangle, no private open area (decks) and landscaping.

How can I give feedback?

As part of the Provincial Government’s Housing Action Plan and new legislation (effective November 30, 2023) Council is prohibited from holding a public hearing for zoning amendment bylaws that facilitate residential development and are consistent with the Official Community Plan. As such, there is no opportunity to speak to Council in person.

Anyone who considers themselves affected by the proposed application and wishes to register an opinion may do so:

  1. By forwarding written submissions for Council consideration (to the attention of Alysha Saville, Corporate Officer) by: 
    1. Dropping it off at the Town Hall mail slot.
    2. By post (P.O. Box 350, Golden B.C. V0A 1H0). 
    3. By email to clerk@golden.ca (only emails sent to this email will form part of the Council Agenda). 

Any submissions must be received by 12 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
