Earlier this week, the Province of BC announced that the upcoming time change on March 8, 2026, will be the final seasonal time change for most of the province as it transitions to a year‑round Daylight Saving Time, referred to as Pacific Time. This does not include Golden.
Golden will continue to follow Mountain Time, remaining aligned with Alberta and the East Kootenays throughout the year. This means we will continue switching our clocks each spring and fall, exactly as we do now.
At this time, the Town will be taking a measured and coordinated approach. We will be monitoring developments in Alberta and discussing with neighbouring Mountain Time communities and regional districts, and the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, to ensure alignment.
Before moving forward with any type of change, we will engage with the community and key industries to understand potential impacts and benefits.
