Mayor Ron Oszust and Council have appointed Jeremy Denegar as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town of Golden, effective Monday, January 6, 2025.
“Council is pleased to welcome Jeremy as Golden's new Chief Administrative Officer,” said Mayor Ron Oszust. “His extensive experience in municipal operations, coupled with his visionary leadership style, aligns perfectly with our goal of fostering a strong, collaborative, and innovative local government and enhancing the dynamic relationship between Council, staff, and our community. We’re confident that Jeremy will play a pivotal role in shaping a unified and vibrant future for Golden."
Jeremy Denegar is a seasoned municipal government professional with 16 years of experience, most recently serving as CAO for the District of Lillooet, where he achieved notable successes in strategic planning, policy development, organizational leadership, and community engagement. He has also contributed to municipal advocacy, asset management, reconciliation, and building Indigenous partnerships.
Previously, Denegar served as Director of Corporate Services for the District of Summerland and as Manager of Information Technology for the Township of Esquimalt.
"I am thrilled to be joining the team in Golden, to continue building upon the important work already completed and to move us forward as a community,” said Denegar. “I look forward to collaborating with the community to bring to Golden the services and amenities we desire, while preserving what makes Golden such an incredible town. I am sure that by working together, we will continue to accomplish the goals that Mayor and Council have set for us, and to achieve the vision of Golden we all share."
Prior to his career in municipal government, Denegar co-founded NOVUS Consulting, where he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for over a decade, bringing a wealth of financial and strategic planning expertise to the organization. Denegar grew up in British Columbia, in the Greater Victoria area.
"Having spent almost every summer as a child exploring Golden and the area with my family, I am thrilled to be coming full circle to join the team in Golden," said Denegar.
The Town of Golden engaged local consultants, Strategic Leadership Solutions, to assist with the recruitment of the Town’s new CAO due to their community and local government leadership experience.
