Town of Golden welcomes new FireSmart Coordinator

The Town of Golden is please to announce the appointment of Michelangelo Mingarelli to the role of FireSmart Coordinator. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of FireSmart activities within the community.


Michelangelo has been a member of the Golden Fire Rescue department since 2021 and brings a wealth of experience to the position – with a background in wildland firefighting and a passion for fire prevention.


In this new role, Michelangelo will develop and deliver a variety of public education initiatives to ensure that residents understand the principles of fire mitigation and emergency preparedness. He says his goal is to increase public understanding of FireSmart strategies and encourage residents to take action to protect their properties and surroundings.


FireSmart is an education program that aims to build wildfire resiliency and reduce the negative impacts of fire for everyone in the province.


The FireSmart Coordinator position in Golden is 100-per-cent funded through the Community Resiliency Investment (CRI) program, an initiative funded by Union of BC Municipalities. Find out more about FireSmart at www.firesmartbc.ca
