Starting August 12, a portion of the Rotary Trail near Fisher Road will be closed for earthen dike work. The trail closure is expected to be in place until the end of August. See map below.
This work is being completed as part of the Town’s multi-year dike improvement program along the Kicking Horse River. Dike improvements are completed to ensure the dike structure and height is adequate according to current design standards, including climate change considerations.
This year’s work will involve reshaping and re-armouring of the dike face, as well as widening and raising of the dike crest over an approximate 80m section of earthen dike near Golden Transfer. This work is 100% grant-funded through the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund.
