For those of you who don't know me, my wife Carmen and I have been residents of Golden since 1989. We've raised our family here and are thrilled to say that all of our children live in Golden and we are blessed with 2 Grand-daughters. Carmen and I owned and operated 4 businesses in Golden over the years. I truly enjoy community service and have been on the local Fire Department, Search and Rescue and a member of BC Ambulance service for the past 31 years. I've been involved with service clubs since we moved to Golden and presently continue as a member of the Golden Rotary Club. As an elected official I've served as a School Board Trustee, an Electoral Area Director, a Councillor and Mayor. Over the past 8 years as Mayor, our Council has been fortunate to build on the foundation set in place by the two previous Councils. A foundation of Fiscal Responsibility, Asset Management, Informed decision-making and valuing the amazing staff that work for the Town of Golden. Please vote October 15th-you are being asked to elect your representatives but also set direction for our community on the borrowing of up to $18 Million for an indoor aquatic center. Image ![]() Candidate Name: Contact Information: Phone: 250-272-6258 | Candidate Statement: With Support of family and friends, Kristina (Kristi) Cooper is running to be elected as a councillor for The Town of Golden. My journey in Golden started the same as many others as a temporary stopping place in my life. I was drawn to the mountains and the outdoor lifestyle but what kept me in Golden was the community. Now, 20 years later, I am honoured to have gotten married and had 3 beautiful daughters in this wonderful community. Throughout the years I have had so many opportunities to support Golden. I worked with the Early Years Committee in growing the After School Care program, formally -Little Chimps Preschool, StrongStart, Summer Fun Day Camp, as well as working to support the Gushers Spray Park. I was employed by SD6 as the Youth Care Worker, and currently I work for the Province of BC, servicing citizens at Service BC. My Golden is a diverse Golden. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive in this community. I want my children, and yours, to have the opportunity to move away but come back to a town that they recognize, connect with and support. Vote Cooper for a Golden we can all be proud of. |

Image ![]() Candidate Name: Contact Information: Phone: 250-344-0557 | Candidate Statement: The fabric and distinction of the community are the people that reside within. Our community has a diverse economy from resource based, industrial, transportation and tourism. Once a two-season tourist destination our tourism is expanding now year-round, this is placing an emphasis on making sure we have the infrastructure in place and asset management. Our small tax base is facing increased cost and as a community we need to make sure that municipal government is managing those funds and assets with the fiscal expectations of the tax contributor. The focus should be on the lives and comfort of the residents of our town. Please visit my social media page for a full disclosure on my platform. |

Image ![]() Candidate Name: Contact Information: Phone: 250-344-2299 | Candidate Statement: As a councillor I have done my best to interact with fellow councillors, town staff, and the people of Golden civilly and with respect. This is important to me. I have also tried to make decisions on what is best for our community now and in the future. Our decisions can and do have substantial impacts far into the future and we always need to be aware of that. If re-elected I will continue to do this. We have major challenges to meet going forward; major challenges such as Climate Change, an aging infrastructure which is increasingly expensive to repair and replace and increasing costs for basics that are making getting by increasingly difficult. These challenges are not unique to Golden but we must do what we can to meet them to keep Golden a good place to live. |

As a councillor, Wes hopes to bring a considerate and fastidious perspective to tackle the issues we face as a community. Wes is particularly interested in climate resiliency, affordability, and sustainable development. We work best when we work together, and Wes is excited to work alongside councillors and residents to ensure this next chapter in Golden's story is bright. |
