The Town of Golden is looking for an individual with a passion for working with children and great communication skills to join the department this summer. This seasonal, part-time role will be working alongside other camp leaders, helping with our summer camps for children ages 6 to10. This position will be under the supervision of the Recreation Services Lead and the Recreation Coordinators. 

This role serves as a direct leader for day camp activities, and is responsible for maintaining camper safety, while on site and on field trips. The successful candidate must be a good team player, and will contribute a positive attitude, strong leadership and organizational skills, and a great enthusiasm for children’s programming.

This is a unionized position with CUPE Local 2309 with a starting wage of $27.37.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Level 1 First Aid Certificate;
  • The ability to marshal daily from the Mount 7 Rec Plex;
  • Babysitting, coaching, or working with children;
  • Handling of cash and associated duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High Five Sport Certification
  • WHMIS Certification

The Town of Golden is looking for Aquatic Workers to provide the safe, effective instruction of swim lessons and lifeguarding at the Golden Municipal Swimming Pool as well as routine facility maintenance, public relations, and program registration.

This is a Temporary – Part Time Seasonal unionized position with CUPE Local 2309 with a starting wage of $27.85 - $33.23 per/hour.

About the Role

Reporting to the Recreation Services Coordinator, the Aquatic Worker plays a key role in creating a safe, welcoming, and fun environment at the Golden Municipal Swimming Pool. This position is responsible for delivering quality swim instruction, supervising patrons, and ensuring a high standard of safety through active lifeguarding.

Aquatic Workers contribute to the overall success of aquatic programs by providing excellent customer service, supporting daily operations, and maintaining a clean and well-run facility. From teaching swim lessons and engaging with the community to assisting with registrations and general maintenance, this role is ideal for individuals who are energetic, team-oriented, and passionate about water safety and recreation.

Opportunities exist to take on additional responsibilities such as mentoring staff, supporting program development, and assisting with scheduling and special events as experience and certifications grow.

Minimal Qualifications

  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor
  • National Lifeguard
  • Standard First Aid and CPR “C” & AED
  • Ability to deal calmly and effectively with emergency situations involving injuries.
  • Knowledge of a variety of aquatic games and activities designed to promote fun.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of municipal swimming pool policies and procedures.

The Town of Golden is looking for an individual with strong communication skills and experience working in the aquatics field to join the departments team as a Aquatics Worker Administrator. This seasonal, part-time role supports the Recreation Services Coordinator – Aquatics Lead day-to-day operations of the Golden Municipal Swimming Pool. 

This role combines frontline aquatic responsibilities—such as lifeguarding, swim instruction, and facility maintenance—with administrative and leadership duties. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective delivery of aquatic programs while supporting staff coordination and customer service.

This is a unionized position with CUPE Local 2309 with a starting wage of $33.23/hour.

About the Role

The Aquatic Worker Administrator will play a key role in maintaining communication among the aquatics team and will assist with the scheduling and swim lesson administration. They will serve as a first point of contact for staff to share concerns or issues as well as responding to patron questions.

The role also includes providing safe and organized aquatic experience for patrons through lifeguarding and teaching.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is organized, approachable, and confident in addressing concerns. They demonstrate sound judgment, can effectively coordinate logistics, and are comfortable balancing multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

Minimum Qualifications

The following certifications: Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, National Lifeguard certification and Standard First Aid with CPR “C” & AED 

  • Minimum two years’ experience as a Lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor.
  • Experience with scheduling, record keeping, or office administration and using point-of-sale or registration software (e.g., Amilia SmartRec preferred).

The Town of Golden is seeking an organized and approachable individual to join the Department of Recreation Services. This is a temporary full-time position to provide coverage during a maternity leave.

Working 37.5 hours per week, this position reports to the Director of Recreation Services and is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, bookings, and programming at municipal recreation facilities.

This is a unionized position with CUPE Local 2309, offering a starting wage of $37.59 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Recreation Services, the position co-ordinates and leads day to day operations, bookings, and programing at key municipal recreation facilities. The position includes supervising and scheduling staff (and volunteers), being accountable for operating within a budget, and tracking the visitation and successes of the department.

The position’s efforts are focused on being the lead for facility bookings and programming and municipally operated facilities and assisting the Aquatics Lead in other duties.
