The Town of Golden is seeking plan, a Fitness Instructor to set up and lead our weekly fitness classes at the Mount 7 Rec Plex.

The Fitness Instructor for our public programs will create a welcoming and inclusive experience for participants of all ages and fitness levels. This position will design an engaging strength and cardio class and motivate participants with fun music and verbal cues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and lead the Town of Golden’s recreational drop- in Group Fitness and Strength & Cardio classes.
  • Set up and take down of any equipment required for the class.
  • Respond to enquiries and complaints from the public regarding programs and activities.
  • Maintain inventory of instruction supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure the classes are meeting the publics needs and communicating with the Recreation Service Coordinator any concerns and ideas for adjustments.

Education & Certifications

  • Current BCRPA Fitness Certification or equivalent, in fitness instruction or specialized discipline (e.g., group fitness, yoga, Pilates, spin, etc.).
  • Current CPR and a First Aid certification.

Skate Leader/Cashier

Description

The Town of Golden is seeking a Skate Leader/Cashier to oversee drop-in programs and activities at the Mount 7 Rec Plex, Golden Arena, and Golden Swimming Pool.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Receives payments for admission to regularly scheduled and special recreation events;
  • Keeps attendance records;
  • Leads recreation activities as necessary;
  • Enforces rules and deals effectively with emergencies;
  • Undertakes routine janitorial tasks and assists other recreation staff as appropriate;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications

  • Level 1 First Aid Certificate or equivalent;
  • Valid and current Driver's Licence;
  • Handling of cash and associated duties.

General Duty Worker (Gardener)

Description

The Town of Golden is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill the seasonal position of Gardener, to help us with our seasonal work around town. The position will work approximately 3 months beginning upon hire date, on a full-time basis at 37.5 hours/week.

Reporting to the Working Foreman, the position will help with various grounds maintenance and janitorial tasks and a variety of other labour-oriented projects for the department.

The Gardener position will be primarily focused on upkeep of the numerous municipal planting beds and landscaped greenspaces. All work must be performed to departmental procedures, safety policies, municipal and Work Safe BC regulations and there will be other duties as assigned.

The position is within the CUPE 2309 bargaining unit and paid at a rate of $31.28/hour.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid British Columbia class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Level 1 First Aid certification.
  • Ability and commitment to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English courteously, tactfully, and diplomatically with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
  • Physical ability to carry out assigned duties in all types of weather.
    Ability to maintain facility maintenance records.

While not mandatory, if you have these skills or experiences it will help:

  • Operation of landscaping equipment.
  • Experience with irrigation systems and maintenance.
  • Possession of a pesticide applicators license.
  • Certification as a pool operator, boiler operator, and playground inspector.
  • Horticulture experience.
  • WHMIS and TDG certification.
  • Familiarity with turf management techniques.
