Emergency Information Update: July 26, 2024 at noon

The weather continues to remain stable. Another report from BC Wildfire indicates that no significant growth was recorded overnight.

BC Wildfire reports that containment and mop-up work continues on the east side of the Columbia River with the help of local Fire Departments. Today, heavy equipment is progressively establishing a guard on the southeast heel of the fire and machine guard construction on the northeast corner begins today. Guards are being established strategically to protect and steer the fire upslope and away from the valley bottom.

Helicopters continue bucketing to cool the fire’s edge or flareups as objectives require.

We ask that residents be patient with RVs and trailers that may be parked within the community temporarily as we accommodate evacuees in the area as well as those from the Jasper area who may not be aware of the local situation.

For those with RVs and trailers, please make sure that you are not parked in such a way that blocks traffic, roads, driveways, emergency access or fire hydrants.

The Golden Swimming Pool reopened at noon and will continue to offer the use of shower facilities for evacuees.

We will continue to provide further updates as they become available throughout today. Remember that wildfire situations can evolve quickly, be prepared and stay tuned to official news sources.
