The owner of 527 11th Street South is proposing to construct a Detached Secondary Residential Dwelling (DSRD). The property is zoned Twin Residential Sensitive - R2A and this is an accessory use in this zone. The built form of the DSRD is that of a two-car garage on the first storey, and a two bedroom suite on the second storey. This is referred to as a “carriage house.”  Two variances to the Town of Golden Zoning Bylaw 1294, 2011 are being sought.

  • Section 6.2.2(a) – Accessory Buildings and Structures
    To allow a total Ground Floor Area of 78.9 m2, where the lesser of 65 m² or 50% of the Ground Floor Area of the Principal Building is required.
  • Section 9.5.3(c) – Secondary Residential Dwellings
    To allow for a Porch, a Deck, and an Amenity Space to face the Rear Lot Line, where Porches, Decks and Amenity Spaces are required to face the Front Lot Line.

Residents can attend the public hearing in person in Council Chambers or virtually by Zoom webinar on Tuesday, April 18 2023 at 1:15 p.m.

Speaking at the meeting

Once Mayor Oszust has announced that the Public Hearing is open for public input, please do the following:

  1. Click the “Raise Hand” icon in the webinar controls. This will notify staff that you have raised your hand and would like to speak.
  2. When it is your turn to speak, staff will unmute your microphone. Click accept to unmute your microphone. You will not be able to share your video.
  3. State your name, address, and provide your input and if you are supportive or opposed.
  4. You will have up to five minutes to speak.
  5. After all speakers have been heard, the Mayor will call for any additional speakers. If you wish to speak for a second time, please click "raise hand" icon again and wait for staff to unmute your microphone again.
